5 Ways You Can Tell if She is Lying

Can you imagine a world where everyone wore their hearts on their sleeves and their lies on their faces?

It’s safe to assume that the world would be a much more interesting place to live. According to a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts, approximately 60% of adults can’ go more than ten minutes in a conversation without telling at least one lie.

What are the most common lies, you ask? Women generally lie in an effort to make someone else feel good, whereas men tend to tell a lie in an effort to make themselves look more desirable.

Be that as it may, do you think you can spot when someone is lying? There are physiological factors that can be picked up on when someone lies, but unless you’re well trained at this, you won’t notice their dilated pupils, a shift in their gaze, fidgety hands, or a change in posture (these are clear indicators of a lie being told). However, if you know what to look for and use them in conjunction with these cues, you will be more adept at telling when someone is lying.

Here are some ways you can spot a lie

1. Is it you or is it her?
If you’ve got a reoccurring feeling that the person you’re seeing is lying to you, this gut feeling isn’t there for no reason. You do, however, have to decide if this feeling is legitimate or if it something that you are conjuring up. This means that you should look at the history and whether or not if the woman has given you a reason to be suspicious. Has she cheated or lied to you in the past?

If so, your intuition is kicking in. If not, then perhaps you have jerked around in a previous relationship and you are on heightened alert. No matter what it is, you want to take notice of what your gut is telling you until you know for certain things are okay.

2. Is she overly protective of her electronics?
Have you ever noticed that when she’s on her phone, computer, or another electronic device, she becomes very protective when you walk into the room? Either she will immediately turn the screen away, turn off the device, or lock the screen. These are clear signs of paranoia and something is going on. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean she’s cheating, especially if it is close to your anniversary, birthday, or another holiday as she may be trying to surprise you with a special gift; but it does raise suspicion. However, if you notice a suspicious line of phone calls that happen almost like clockwork late at night and she doesn’t tell you who they are or what the call was about, then you can be suspicious.

3. She avoids making eye contact.
If you’re concerned that something may be going on and when you try to talk to her about it, does she avoid your eyes? This action often indicates that she is feeling shame, fear, and maybe even discomfort. You should keep in mind that unless she’s a professional liar, she will have a hint of surprise, confusion, or something of the like when you accuse her of being dishonest and she’s actually innocent.

4. Has her body language changed?
If you’ve been in a relationship for some time, you’re pretty well versed in her habits, behaviors, and any quirks she may have. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that every time she taps her fingernail on the counter is she lying or hiding something from you. She just may be a naturally fidgety person. What you should take into consideration though is if she seems nervous around you when she never used to before. This could mean that she is afraid that you may find out something that you aren’t supposed to know about.

5. She isn’t open to you anymore and is guarded.
If she isn’t opening up to you like you would assume considering how long you’ve been together, then you may be on the right track by suspecting that she is hiding something from you. You know that when she starts behaving differently or acting unusual, then perhaps there is something going on and you’ll want to get to the bottom of it quickly.
