Discover Why Local Singles Flock to the Best Detroit Bars for Fun

where to meet singles in detroit

Detroit has gotten a lot of flak over the years as being a dying city that has nothing going for it. While there are parts of the city that have seen better days, Detroit singles know how to have fun, especially when it comes to date night. Now, if you live in Detroit and you have a hard time meeting people or if you’re just passing through and you want to meet someone, you’ve got to check out some of the best Detroit bars and restaurants!

Don’t worry! If you aren’t into the bar scene, we have a few options that can help you make date night in Detroit enjoyable and not the usual dinner and a movie type thing. We have a couple comedy options and even a brewery or two!

Let’s get started!

1. El Asador Steakhouse

El Asador Steakhouse can be found in the southwestern part of Detroit, in Mexicantown. As you can imagine, El Asador does Mexican cuisine, but they do it in a way that is unique and so delicious. What’s truly remarkable about this venue is the beautiful mural on the southern wall of the building. The mural was painted in 2015 by Victor Quiñonez (also known as Marka27). The mural, “Deity of Southwest Detroit” is to symbolize that the southwest Detroit is protected.

It doesn’t matter if you’re there to enjoy divine food that is made from scratch or if you’re just outside marveling at the mural, the chances of meeting some of the sexiest single women Detroit has to offer are pretty good!

2. Laff Entertainment

Who doesn’t enjoy a good laugh? We know we certainly do! Instead of going to some of those boring singles events Detroit has, why not split a few seams and catch a comedy show that is produced by Laff Entertainment? With over 27 years in the comedy industry, the folks at Laff Entertainment are determined to give you an experience you’ll never forget – especially when you attend a show with comedians like Def Comedy Jam’s Downtown Tony Brown, MTV’s Wild’N Out’s Spanky Hayes, or BET Comic View’s Tony Roney. We fully recommend checking out their site to get in on the Funny Festivals and score tickets to other great shows.

Not only can you sip on great alcohol, but you can go on a tour at their second location called the Whiskey Factory, where you can get an exclusive look at how things are done, but also taste it too. On the tour, you’ll learn the art and science behind distilling grain and creating a great spirit. When you’re overcome with the spirit, who knows where the evening will take you!

The show is a collaborative effort to give up and coming comedians (as well as professionals) a stage to perform on in the city. If you’re looking for a place to test out your own stuff, contact one of the co-producers, either Lauren Uchalik or Mike Stanley. Of course, just be sure you’ve got good material if you’re hoping to meet someone after a set!

However, once you step inside, the compact dining room makes it hard not to chat with someone and make new connections. Everyone sits at communal tables or along one of the three bars, although no alcohol is sold here. No, Ima is one of those gems where you can go for a great bowl of noodles and a rice dish and chat with whomever is sitting closest to you. By the way,  there is good news for someone who prefers something more stronger then Coke, this place will have a liquor license in September.  Ima is also known for its amazing spicy pork udon and sashimi bowls.
