1. The Backline

The Backline is a great place to go when you want to see a show, but you don’t want to go to the movies. All shows are for the 18 and over crowd, so you can bet that there will be sound language and adult topics covered. With that said, the venue is host to many different types of shows. If you want to impress a date (or someone in the audience), you can head over every 4th Thursday of the month to take part in Kickball Style Jam where you’ll get to do some improv with Backline alum and students. There are plenty of standup shows, improv sessions, and more. Just make sure you check out the website to see what is happening so you can buy tickets!

2. The Casual Pint

The Casual Pint is, as you would expect, a place where beer lovers can go to have a casual pint of their favorite beer, or try something new! The venue looks upscale, but as soon as you walk through the door, the casual atmosphere will put you well at ease so that you can enjoy a beer and socialize. As you enjoy your beer, you can also order some food from their menu, which consists of your typical bar food like sandwiches, flatbreads, and appetizers. 3. Omaha Jitterbugs

Omaha Jitterbugs is a non-profit organization that is all about dancing. This is the place to go when you want to step away from the clubs where everyone is twerking and you want to dance like they used to back in the first part of the 20th century. Here, not only will you be able to enjoy weekly swing events, but you can also enroll in classes and workshops so that you no longer have two left feet and can cut a rug like the best of them. When you visit Omaha Jitterbugs, you’ll feel like one of the family. You’ll have the chance to laugh, smile, have fun, and may even re-discover who you are and what makes you happy!

4. LOCAL Beer, Patio, and Kitchen

Everyone enjoys a good beer every now and then, right? So why wouldn’t it make sense to check out a venue that is all about the beer? If you’re thinking what we’re thinking, then you’ve got to check out LOCAL Beer, Patio, and Kitchen. If you like a particular style of beer, then they’ll suggest a local beer that may be right up your alley! For example, if you like lagers amber ales like Sam Adams Octoberfest, they may recommend Peace Tree Twice Aged Templeton Red. They even suggest a menu item which will pair well with your beer! How awesome is that?

5. Dolce

When you want impress a date, you’ve got to make reservations at Dolce. The menus aren’t very large, but that doesn’t mean the quality and flavors are lacking. Why, for the lunch menu, you could have a dish of Imperial Wagyu and Pork Ragu or a Pan Seared Pork Belly Salad for lunch! For dinner, items include Colorado Lamb T-Bone or Pan Seared Scallops. There is even a date night menu that is priced at $58 per couple and you get 4 courses! Not bad for that price at all!

6. Spirit World

Okay, we’ve all been to a liquor store before, but you’ve never been to a liquor store quite like Spirit World! Here, you’ll find a whiskey and wine bar that focus more on craft products, but you’ll also find gourmet food at the cafe! If you need to find a rare, unique, or a hard to find liquor, chances are you’ll be able to find it here because they have the largest selection in the city! Even if you aren’t going there for a date or to meet someone, you can order a gift basket for someone special (check out the website for the available options!)

7. Blazin’ Pianos

Blazin’ Pianos isn’t like other dueling piano shows you’ve been to before. The atmosphere is so lively and so engaging that you’ll be entranced with the performance. It’s important that you check out the players schedule so you can see your favorite act. You can whet your whistle while you enjoy the show, but if you get hungry, you can order from Godfather’s Pizza next door and bring it to the venue, as Blazin’ Pianos doesn’t serve food.

8. Proof

Step back in time and surround yourself with prohibition era style but with an upscale urban twist. Here, you’ll be able to sip on cocktails that are made from premium spirits. If you love whiskey, you’ll have your choice of over 300 premium whiskeys and bourbons. Of course, there is also a great selection of fine wines, craft soda and quality beer.
